In 2021, Vosges Haut Chocolate presented their Enchanted collection. The presentation box alone was enough for me to need to see it in person.

Almost like a shallow hat box, the outer packaging was made of a smooth, thick cardstock. The repeating leaf and floral motif in shades of emerald and amethyst covered every inch of the surface. On the top of the box, centered, in a flourishing fairytale-esque font, and shining in smooth silver, was the word “Enchanted.”

Opening the box took a little time. There was a seal, kind of like when you unbox a new phone and the top and bottom of the box release ever so slowly, keeping you in suspense. Oh, but when it was opened…

Not only was the smell of these luscious, special chocolates wafting from the box, but there were more visual treats, too. In beautiful eggplant purple, there was a booklet, describing some of Vosges’ process, thoughtfully curated ingredients, like wine and garam masala, and the end products themselves. There was also a round flavor guide, also in the same rich purple as the booklet, which described the ingredients in each bon bon, but also showed you where to find specific ones.

The chocolates themselves are an absolute work of art. Enrobed in beautiful, subdued Earth tones and topped with garnishes like colored salts and gold leaf, and most filled with some kind of delicious magic, they were not easily chosen and almost too pretty to eat, but devoured nonetheless.
